Basic Past Posting (Late Bet Placement)

How it works

The most common form of cheating at craps. The cheater places a bet on the table AFTER the dice have already come to rest and the outcome is known. The cheater typically creates a distraction - asking the dealer for change right as the dice are rolled, knocking chips over “accidentally,” or waiting for the dealer to look away. As the dice come to a stop, the cheater places chips on the winning spot. The technique exploits the fast-paced nature of craps where multiple things happen simultaneously. Higher denomination moves are made during busy times to blend in.

In 2001, a gambler was sentenced to 7-25 years in prison for past posting in Detroit casinos. He asked dealers for change when dice were rolled, then placed chips on winning spots after dice stopped, winning approximately $86,000. In 2009, Richard Taylor (“Mr. Casino”) was convicted of leading a craps cheating ring at Foxwoods Resort Casino using past posting with dealer collusion.
