Dice Sliding with Confederate Blocking (Team Slide)

How it works

The shooter slides dice while a team member (the “blocker”) deliberately positions themselves to obscure the stickman or boxman’s view of the sliding action. This is the technique that the Nevada Supreme Court specifically ruled constitutes illegal cheating in Skipper v. State. The blocker may pretend to place a bet, lean forward to celebrate, or create some other distraction or obstruction at the critical moment of the slide. The court distinguished between accidental sliding (which dealers call “no roll” on) and intentional deceptive sliding designed to evade detection.

In Skipper v. State (879 P.2d 732, Nev. 1994), the Nevada Supreme Court affirmed convictions, stating: “Skipper was blindfolding the dealer while placing the dice on the table in a winning combination. This method of altering the elements of chance clearly constitutes cheating.”
