Front Money Wire Fraud

High-Roller / Junket / Marker ScamsSkill: High

How it works

Fraud involving deposits sent to casinos as “front money” (wire transfers or checks to establish credit or gaming funds) using stolen or fraudulent financial instruments. The fraudster wires funds from a compromised account, deposits a cashier’s check from a fraudulent source, or uses business accounts without authorization. They draw against the front money before the fraud is discovered. When the wire is reversed or check bounces, the casino has already issued chips or credits.

On the record

Casinos regularly encounter front money fraud attempts, particularly from international wires where tracing is difficult. Some organized rings specialize in this vector against high-end properties.
