Parking Lot Ambush (Follow-Home Robbery)

How it works

Criminals identify big winners inside the casino through observation or by monitoring social media/casino promotions. They follow the winner to the parking lot or home and rob them at gunpoint. In the February 2025 Seminole Hard Rock Tampa case, a suspect deliberately rear-ended the victim’s car along Hillsborough Ave at 3:11 a.m., then when the victim pulled over, the suspect (wearing a mask) pointed a gun and took $3,700 the victim had won at the casino. Similar patterns have been documented at multiple casino properties where robbers specifically target patrons leaving with winnings.

Seminole Hard Rock Tampa (February 2025) — victim rear-ended then robbed at gunpoint of $3,700 in winnings. Horseshoe Casino Cleveland (2012) — multiple gamblers robbed after winning; one victim attacked by supposed friends who followed him out. Margaritaville Bossier City (April 2022) — elderly man robbed in parking lot by team of four who followed him to his car.
