String Betting in Craps

How it works

While string betting is most commonly associated with poker, the same principle can be applied in craps. The player puts out chips in multiple motions without verbally declaring their total bet amount first. This allows the player to gauge the dealer’s reaction or the situation before committing the full amount. For example, a player might place one chip on the Pass Line, observe the dealer’s acknowledgment, then add more chips in a second motion. While this may be tolerated at low-limit casual play, in high-stakes games it can be used as an angle-shooting technique to manipulate betting conditions.
