Macau — Historical Property

The Hotel Lisboa is a landmark casino hotel on the Macau Peninsula that opened in 1970 and was the flagship property of STDM and later SJM Holdings during Stanley Ho’s monopoly era. The distinctive 12-story tower with its lotus-flower-inspired design became the symbol of Macau’s gaming industry. The hotel’s casino was one of the highest-grossing gaming floors in the world for decades. The Grand Lisboa, a 58-story tower shaped like a golden lotus flower, opened adjacent to the original Hotel Lisboa in 2006-2008 as SJM’s response to the entry of Las Vegas operators.

In practice

The Hotel Lisboa and Grand Lisboa complex remains one of the most recognizable landmarks in Macau and continues to be a major gaming and tourism destination.
