Andar Bahar

Asian Card Games

A traditional Indian card game of pure chance where players bet on whether a matching card will appear on the “Andar” (inside) or “Bahar” (outside) side of the table. The dealer places one card face-up as the “joker” or middle card, then deals cards alternately to Andar and Bahar until a card matching the rank of the middle card appears. The side receiving the matching card wins.

In practice

Andar Bahar is extremely popular in India and increasingly available in live dealer online casinos. Some variants offer side bets on the number of cards dealt before a match. The house edge is approximately 2.5-3%. In most rule sets, Andar has a slight advantage and pays slightly less than Bahar.
