Roulette

A category of wagers in European and French roulette where the player verbally announces the desired bet rather than placing chips directly on the standard betting layout. The croupier then places the chips in the appropriate positions. Called bets cover specific sections of the roulette wheel rather than the betting table layout. Common called bets include Voisins du Zero, Tiers du Cylindre, Orphelins, and Neighbors. These bets require familiarity with the wheel number sequence and are typically used by experienced players. Not all casinos offer called bets; they are standard in European markets but rare in most American properties.

In practice

In Macau VIP rooms and premium European properties, called bets are routine. Dealers must be trained to execute these bets quickly and accurately. Some casinos require a minimum aggregate wager for called bets.
