Cut Card
Blackjack (also Baccarat)
A solid-colored plastic card (usually yellow or red) inserted into the shuffled deck or shoe to indicate the point where the dealer will reshuffle. The cut card is drawn during the shuffle procedure and placed at a predetermined depth in the shoe to control penetration. When the cut card appears during play, the current round is completed and the shoe is replaced.
In practice
In some jurisdictions, gaming regulations specify minimum penetration requirements. Cut cards are never dealt to players; they are simply markers.
