A casino table game (such as roulette, blackjack, baccarat, or craps) played on an electronic gaming machine rather than at a live dealer table. ETGs may use fully automated digital interfaces with RNG-determined outcomes, or may incorporate live physical elements (real cards, real roulette wheel) dealt by a human dealer but with electronic betting stations. ETGs allow casinos to offer table game experiences at lower minimum bets than live tables, operate 24/7 without dealer staffing costs, and accommodate more players per game than traditional tables. ETG adoption accelerated significantly following capacity restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In practice

ETGs with live dealers and electronic betting terminals occupy a regulatory middle ground — they may be classified as table games for licensing purposes but as EGMs for accounting. Some jurisdictions tax ETGs at slot rates rather than table game rates.
