Slot Mechanics

A player option, available on some slot games (primarily in online jurisdictions), to pay a multiple of the base bet (typically 50x-200x) to directly purchase entry into the game’s primary bonus feature rather than waiting for it to trigger naturally through normal play. The purchased bonus plays at the same mathematical parameters as a naturally triggered bonus. From an operations perspective, feature buys increase coin-in per session and player time-on-device but may also accelerate player losses. Feature buy availability is restricted or prohibited in some regulated jurisdictions due to responsible gaming concerns.

In practice

Feature buy is predominantly an online slot feature; it is rarely found on land-based casino slots due to regulatory restrictions in most jurisdictions. Not permitted under UK Gambling Commission regulations.
