Part III: Slot Machine Cheating · Physical Cheating Methods

SCAM #23: BV Accelerator / Intruder Device

Bill Acceptor FraudSkill: Professional

How it works

A sophisticated electronic device disguised to look like real legal tender. The device camouflages two prongs that, when inserted into the bill validator, make the machine think $100 has been inserted. The bill wrapped around the device serves only as camouflage so that passersby see currency rather than a cheating device. This is more advanced than the simple bill validator wrap-around device because it uses electronic components to interface directly with the validator’s internal sensors.

Where it appears

Slot machines and bill changers with optical bill validators.

On the record

These devices were commonly advertised online as “BV Jammers” or “Slot Jammers” for $249. As George Joseph noted: “Why would you sell me a cheating device for $249.00 if it really worked? Why not just use it yourself and get rich?” Most internet-sold devices do not actually work against modern validators.

Published as a detection reference for surveillance, compliance and gaming-operations professionals. Thresholds and tuning are set by the property. Nothing here is instruction — the method is described so it can be recognised.
