Macau — Regulatory/Legal
The Direccao de Inspeccao e Coordenacao de Jogos (DICJ), now known as GGRAS (Gaming, Inspection, and Coordination Bureau), is the primary regulatory body overseeing Macau’s casino gaming industry. It conducts inspections of casino operations, licenses gaming promoters, enforces anti-money laundering measures, coordinates with law enforcement on criminal investigations, and implements preventive measures against illegal gaming activities. The bureau is responsible for all aspects of casino regulation including table game supervision, slot machine monitoring, and compliance with Macau’s Gaming Law.
In practice
In April 2025, the DICJ inducted 60 new inspectors to intensify monitoring of casino operations and combat illicit practices including illegal currency exchange.
