2.1 Marina Bay Sands (MBS)
Singapore — Corporate/Property
Marina Bay Sands is one of Singapore’s two integrated resort casino complexes, operated by Las Vegas Sands Corp. Opened in April 2010, MBS features a 2,561-room hotel, a convention center, a shopping mall, restaurants by celebrity chefs, and a casino with approximately 1,000 gaming tables and 1,500 slot machines. The property’s distinctive three-tower design topped by the SkyPark (a 340-meter-long observation deck) has made it an iconic Singapore landmark. MBS is frequently cited as the most profitable integrated resort in the world on a per-property basis.
In practice
MBS’s casino is restricted to no more than 3-5% of the total resort floor space, and Singapore citizens/PRs must pay an entry levy. The property is currently undergoing a S$4.5 billion expansion that will add a fourth hotel tower and additional convention space.
