2.3 GRA (Gambling Regulatory Authority of Singapore)
Singapore — Regulatory/Legal
The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Singapore is the statutory body established in 2022 under the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Singapore Act to serve as the sole regulator for all forms of gambling in Singapore. The GRA replaced the previous Casino Regulatory Authority (CRA) and consolidated regulatory oversight of casinos, betting, lotteries, gaming machines, and other gambling activities under a single entity. The GRA is responsible for licensing, compliance monitoring, enforcement, and player protection for both of Singapore’s integrated resort casinos and other gambling activities.
In practice
The consolidation of gambling regulation under the GRA in 2022 represented a major restructuring of Singapore’s regulatory framework, bringing consistency to what had been a fragmented system.
