Big 6 / Big 8
Craps
Self-service bets located in the corner of the craps layout that win if the chosen number (6 or 8) is rolled before a seven. These bets pay even money (1:1) and carry a house edge of 9.09%. Because a place bet on 6 or 8 pays 7:6 (house edge 1.52%) for the same outcome, the Big 6 and Big 8 are considered among the worst bets on the craps table and are actively discouraged by knowledgeable players and dealers. Many modern casinos have eliminated these bets from their layouts entirely. Surveillance and floor personnel should note that players making Big 6/8 bets are generally uninformed about optimal craps betting strategy.
