Birdcage (Chuck-a-Luck / Grand Hazard)
Sic Bo
A Western variant of Sic Bo played with a mechanical cage device (the “birdcage”) that tumbles the dice rather than shaking them. The game is also known as Chuck-a-Luck in American casinos and Grand Hazard in British establishments. While based on the same three-dice concept as Sic Bo, the birdcage variant typically offers fewer betting options and worse odds for players, resulting in a higher house edge. The birdcage device itself is a wire or metal cage that rotates to randomize the dice before they are revealed. This variant is less common in modern casinos, having been largely supplanted by traditional Sic Bo with its electronic layout.
