Cold Seat

A surveillance monitoring position or camera assignment that covers an area of relatively low activity or priority, typically assigned to a less experienced operator or used as a rotation position during slower shifts. Cold seats may monitor back-of-house corridors, non-gaming areas, or inactive gaming pits. The term contrasts with “hot seat,” which covers high-activity, high-risk gaming areas.
