Digital Video Recorder (DVR)

An electronic device that records video from analog surveillance cameras in a digital format to a hard drive or other storage medium. DVRs convert analog camera signals to digital for storage and playback, and typically support remote viewing capabilities. In casino environments, DVRs must provide sufficient storage capacity for regulatory retention periods, which commonly range from 7 to 30 days for general footage and significantly longer for incident-related recordings.
In practice
Being replaced by NVRs in modern installations as the industry shifts from analog to IP camera systems.
