Front Money Account
AML/CFT
A deposit account maintained by a casino on behalf of a patron, into which the patron deposits funds (typically by cash, wire transfer, or check) before gambling. The patron can then draw on these funds to purchase chips, place bets, or pay for casino services. Front money accounts are attractive to money launderers because they can deposit illicit cash and later withdraw it in the form of a casino check, creating documentation that appears to represent legitimate gambling funds. Casinos must apply CDD and ongoing monitoring to front money account activity.
