High Bet (Passe)

Roulette

An outside bet wagering that the winning number will be one of the high numbers from 19 through 36. This is an even-money bet paying 1:1. In French roulette, this bet is called “Passe” (meaning “pass”), as these numbers were traditionally considered to “pass” the midpoint. The bet loses on zero and double zero. Like all even-money outside bets, the house edge is 2.70% on European roulette and 5.26% on American roulette, dropping to 1.35% with La Partage or En Prison rules.
