Low Bet (Manque)

An outside bet wagering that the winning number will be one of the low numbers from 1 through 18. This is an even-money bet paying 1:1. In French roulette, this bet is called “Manque” (meaning “fail” or “miss”), as these numbers were traditionally considered to “fail” to reach the midpoint. The bet loses on zero and double zero. When La Partage or En Prison rules are in effect, the house edge on this bet drops to 1.35%.
