Taking Odds
Craps
The action of placing an odds bet behind an established pass line or come bet. “Taking odds” means the player is betting that the point will be made before a seven, at true odds with no house edge. The payouts for taking odds are 2:1 on points of 4 and 10, 3:2 on points of 5 and 9, and 6:5 on points of 6 and 8. The opposite action for don’t pass/don’t come bettors is “laying odds,” where the player bets that a seven will come before the point, at reversed true odds. Casinos specify maximum odds multiples, with 3x-4x-5x being the current Las Vegas standard.
