Part III: Business & Regulation · Casino Marketing & Player Management
VIP (Very Important Player)
Player Classification
A player designated by the casino as having exceptional value based on their gaming volume, frequency of visits, and overall contribution to revenue. VIP status is typically assigned through a formal evaluation process and grants access to exclusive benefits, private gaming salons, dedicated hosts, priority services, and tailored reinvestment programs. In operations, VIP players are flagged in player tracking systems with special codes, and their gaming sessions require enhanced attention from both player development and surveillance departments to ensure optimal service delivery and risk management.
In practice
In Macau, VIP traditionally referred to players accessed through junket operators, though post-2022 regulatory changes have shifted much VIP play to “premium direct” (in-house managed) programs.
