Wide Dynamic Range (WDR)

A camera technology that compensates for scenes with both very bright and very dark areas, producing balanced, detailed images across varying light conditions. WDR is essential in casino environments where bright neon signage, slot machine displays, and dark corners coexist in the same frame. Cameras with WDR capability can capture usable detail in high-contrast scenes that would otherwise be washed out or underexposed.
In practice
Casino regulators increasingly specify minimum WDR performance for cameras covering gaming tables and cage areas where detail identification is critical.
