Yee Hah Hi (Fish-Prawn-Crab)

Sic Bo

A traditional Chinese variant of Sic Bo played with three dice bearing symbols instead of numbers: Fish (red), Shrimp (green), Gourd (blue), Coin (blue), Crab (green), and Rooster (red). The game, whose Cantonese name “Yee Hah Hi” (魚蝦蟹) translates to “Fish Shrimp Crab,” accounts for approximately 10% of Sic Bo tables in Macau. All standard Sic Bo bets are available with the symbols mapped to their corresponding numbers. Additionally, Yee Hah Hi offers three unique color-based bets: All Same Color (7:1), Exactly Two of Chosen Color (3:1), and Exactly One of Chosen Color (1:1). This variant has deep cultural significance and is particularly popular with older Chinese players and during festivals.

In practice

Yee Hah Hi is sometimes called “Bau Cua Ca Cop” in Vietnamese communities. The game has a long history in Chinese folk gambling and is commonly played at family gatherings during Chinese New Year.
