Loyalty Program Point Manipulation

Insider / Employee ScamsSkill: Medium

How it works

Employees with access to loyalty program databases inflating points for themselves, accomplices, or customers in exchange for kickbacks—then redeeming points for cash, comps, or merchandise. An employee manually credits points to accounts without corresponding play, creates fake accounts with inflated point balances, or manipulates play tracking data. Points are redeemed for rewards that are sold or used personally.

On the record

One documented case involved casino employees creating dozens of fake accounts linked to their own loyalty cards, entering false data to credit millions of points, which were redeemed for cash and high-value rewards over several months.
