VIP rooms in Macau are exclusive, privately managed gaming areas within casino properties that cater to high-stakes players, predominantly from mainland China. These rooms were historically leased to junket operators who managed the gaming space, provided dealers, and extended credit to high-rolling patrons. VIP rooms were the engine of Macau’s gaming revenue, contributing up to 70% of Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) at their peak in 2013-2014. Following the 2022 gaming law and the collapse of major junket operators (Suncity, Tak Chun), VIP rooms now operate under direct concessionaire management with significantly stricter regulatory oversight.
