46. Fill (Chip Fill)
Financial Transactions
A fill is the transaction in which gaming chips are transferred from the casino cage to a gaming table’s chip tray to replenish the table’s inventory when it falls below established minimum levels for any denomination. The need for a fill is determined by floor personnel based on the chip tray inventory and anticipated game activity. A pre-numbered fill slip documents the transaction with details including the table number, game type, denominations and quantities of chips, total value, date, time, and serial number. The transaction requires authorization by a pit supervisor, preparation by the cage cashier, transport by a chip runner, and verification by the dealer at the table. The original fill slip is dropped in the table’s drop box; a copy remains at the cage.
In practice
Fill slips must be used in sequential order. Voided fill slips require specific procedures including marking “VOID” across both copies and retaining them for audit.
