72. VIP Room

Asia-Pacific Variations

A VIP room is a private or semi-private gaming area within a casino, predominantly found in Macau and other Asian gaming markets, that caters to high-stakes players who wager large amounts per hand — typically HK$10,000 or more. VIP rooms are often operated through arrangements between the casino and junket operators, who bring in high-roller players. The casino provides the gaming space, equipment, dealers, and regulatory compliance; the junket operator provides the clientele and credit. VIP rooms typically offer Baccarat as the primary game, along with enhanced privacy, personalized service, and access to high-denomination plaques and non-negotiable (dead) chip programs.

In practice

VIP rooms in Macau are distinct from the casino’s mass market floor. They may occupy separate physical spaces with their own entrances. Revenue from VIP rooms is reported separately from mass market revenue in Macau operator financial statements.
