Blind

Poker

A forced bet posted by specific positions at the table before cards are dealt. In Texas Hold’em and Omaha, there are typically two blinds: the “small blind” (posted by the player to the dealer’s left) and the “big blind” (posted by the next player). Blinds rotate around the table each hand. The big blind amount typically determines the minimum bet for that round.

In practice

Unlike antes, blinds are posted by specific positions, not all players. In tournament play, blinds increase at scheduled intervals. Some casino poker games (e.g., Ultimate Texas Hold’em) use a blind bet as part of the standard wagering structure.
