Box Numbers (Point Numbers)
Craps
The numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 on the craps layout, so named because each has a corresponding “box” on the layout where the point is marked and where come/don’t come bets are placed. These are the only numbers that can be established as the point during the come-out roll. All other dice totals (2, 3, 7, 11, 12) are called “naturals” because they produce an immediate win or loss on the come-out roll. The box numbers are central to most craps betting strategies, as the majority of player wagers (place bets, come bets, hardways) revolve around these six numbers.
