Poker Room

A poker room support employee responsible for managing the waitlist, seating players in available games, maintaining the “Games In Progress” board, keeping the poker room clean (the original meaning – brushing crumbs and debris from tables), running chips between the cashier and tables (chip running), and providing general administrative support. The term originated from the literal task of brushing tables but has evolved to encompass a variety of operational support functions. In many rooms, dealers rotate into the brush position as part of their shift.

In practice

The brush role varies significantly between properties. Some rooms use “brush” for the person managing the waitlist and seating; others use it for the chip-running function; and in small rooms, it may encompass both functions plus cleaning duties.
