Floorman / Floorperson (Poker)
Poker Room
The supervisor in a poker room responsible for overseeing the games in progress, seating new players, maintaining balanced tables, settling rule disputes, managing table changes, handling dealer scheduling within the room, supervising dealer performance, and keeping games running smoothly. The poker floorman is distinct from pit floor supervisors – they typically have specialized knowledge of poker variants, tournament structures, and poker-specific regulations. In larger poker rooms, multiple floorpeople work simultaneously, each managing a section of tables.
In practice
Even in small poker rooms where one person wears multiple hats, dealers will call “Floor!” when a dispute requires supervisor intervention. Poker floorpeople are considered among the most knowledgeable gaming employees regarding rules and procedures.
