Proposition Bet (Prop Bet)
Craps
A category of one-roll bets located in the center area of the craps layout, including Any Craps, Any Seven (Big Red), Horn bets, individual number bets on 2, 3, 11 (Yo), and 12, Hardways, and Hop bets. Proposition bets are controlled by the stickman and require dealer assistance to place. These bets carry the highest house edges in craps (ranging from 9.09% to 16.67%) and are the primary source of profit for the casino on the craps table. Surveillance teams note that frequent proposition betting, especially at high denominations, may indicate either an uninformed player or, in some cases, a player attempting to launder money through high-house-edge wagers.
