Collusion (Player-to-Player / Player-to-Dealer)

How it works

A conspiracy between two or more parties to cheat the casino or other players. Can involve players working together against the house, or players bribing dealers for inside information or manipulations. Signal-based collusion uses coded gestures, phrases, or positioning to communicate hole card information or betting intentions. Dealer-assisted collusion involves bribery for false shuffles, hole card flashing, or intentional payout errors. In blackjack, a dealer might subtly signal whether their hole card is high or low.

On the record

The Tran Organization (see Category 12) involved 30+ dealers across 25+ casinos in a massive false-shuffle conspiracy. A surveillance officer at one casino collaborated with a dealer and player to relay hole card information via cameras, stealing hundreds of thousands over months.
