Shuffle Tracking / Ace Tracking

How it works

A legal advantage play where players track groups of cards (slugs) through the shuffle process to predict when favorable cards will appear. When combined with dealer collusion or electronic assistance, it becomes cheating. Players observe the shuffle sequence and mentally track where high-value cards (aces and tens) are positioned in the new shoe. They cut the cards to bring these slugs into play and increase bets when the slug approaches. Team play uses spotters to track and big players to capitalize.

The MIT Blackjack Team reportedly used shuffle tracking techniques at various times, though their primary method was card counting. Professional advantage players have exploited weak shuffles in casinos worldwide.
