Past Posting

How it works

The act of placing or altering a bet after the outcome has already been determined. Named from horse racing where bets placed after the “call to post” were invalid. In casinos, this means betting after the ball drops, cards are revealed, or dice stop rolling. Cheaters exploit dealer distraction during busy periods. At roulette, they place chips on winning numbers after the ball lands while the dealer looks at the wheel. In blackjack, they add chips to winning hands during the confusion of multi-player payouts. Requires expert timing and usually works best from 1st or 3rd base positions.

A Detroit man was convicted in 2012 of past posting at the Hollywood Casino in Toledo, one of several arrests made within weeks of casino openings. Past posting teams are regularly apprehended in Las Vegas and regional markets.
