Single-Die Sliding (The Modern Slide)

How it works

The most common and deceptive form of dice sliding used by professional cheaters. The shooter controls only ONE die while allowing the second die to tumble normally. The controlled die is slid with a slight spin (created by a “finger snapping” motion) to add stability and deception. By controlling just one die, the shooter reduces 36 possible combinations to only 6 outcomes - effectively “killing” one side of the controlled die. The most common side to control is the “six” - resulting in rolls of 6/1, 6/2, 6/3, 6/4, 6/5, and 6/6. Team members place bets on all or a portion of these numbers (often field bets or one-roll proposition bets).

In 2021-2022, four men were charged with stealing $226,948 from The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas using single-die sliding on an electronic Roll to Win craps table. The group worked as a coordinated team, with one person placing wagers, signaling, and then sliding dice.
