How it works
A group of UC Santa Cruz physics students who built a wearable computer in a shoe to predict roulette outcomes, achieving a significant mathematical edge over casinos. How It Was Executed: J. Doyne Farmer, Norman Packard, and colleagues built a microcomputer using a MOS 6502 processor hidden in shoe soles. An observer clicked a toe-switch to time the ball and rotor; the computer calculated likely landing octants and transmitted predictions via torso-mounted vibrations to a bettor.
