Weighted / Loaded Dice (Passers / Missouts)

How it works

Dice that have additional weight added to one side or corner to alter the center of mass, causing the opposite (lighter) side to land face up more frequently. Common weighting materials include lead, platinum, or gold due to their high density (less material needed for the desired effect). The weight may be hidden inside one of the pips (dots), making it appear normal from the outside. The desired effect is for the heavier side to consistently land on the bottom, making the opposite face appear on top. Also known as “passers” when designed to roll 7s and “missouts” when designed to avoid 7s.

The oldest form of dice cheating, dating back to the Roman Empire. Also featured in the movie “Ocean’s Thirteen” where magnetic dice were manufactured with internal magnets.
