Craps Check
Craps
A hedging strategy in which a player with an active pass line bet also places an Any Craps proposition bet during the come-out roll to offset the potential loss if a craps number (2, 3, or 12) is rolled. For example, a player with a $10 pass line bet might place a $2 craps check; if a craps number is rolled, the pass line loses $10 but the craps check wins $14 (at 7:1), resulting in a net profit of $4. If a natural (7 or 11) is rolled, the pass line wins $10 but the craps check loses $2, for a net profit of $8. This hedging strategy reduces variance but increases the overall house edge on the combined wager.
