Integrated Resort (IR)

Market Segments

A large-scale destination development that combines casino gaming with multiple non-gaming amenities including hotels, convention facilities, retail shopping, fine dining, entertainment venues, theme parks, and spas. The integrated resort model, pioneered in Las Vegas and refined in Macau and Singapore, is designed to diversify revenue streams beyond gaming and attract a broader customer base. Non-gaming revenue in major IRs can represent 50% or more of total revenue. For operations, the IR model requires coordination across gaming, hotel, food and beverage, retail, entertainment, and convention departments to deliver a seamless guest experience.

In practice

Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa, along with Macau’s Cotai Strip properties (The Venetian Macao, City of Dreams, Galaxy Macau), exemplify the integrated resort model. Japan’s planned casino resorts will follow this model.
