Pass Line Bet

Craps

The foundational bet in craps, placed on the pass line area of the layout before the come-out roll. On the come-out roll, a 7 or 11 wins even money, while a 2, 3, or 12 loses. If any other number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10) is rolled, that number becomes the point. The pass line bet then wins if the point is rolled again before a seven (“seven out”), and loses if a seven is rolled first. Once a point is established, the player may take free odds behind the pass line bet. The house edge on the flat pass line bet is 1.41%. The pass line bet is the most commonly placed wager in craps and is the basis for most players’ betting strategies.

In practice

Pass line bettors are “right bettors” (betting with the shooter). Approximately 80-90% of players at a typical craps table bet the pass line.
