River

Poker (Texas Hold’em, Omaha)

The fifth and final community card dealt in Texas Hold’em and Omaha, followed by the final round of betting. The river completes the board and finalizes all hand possibilities. River play often involves significant strategic complexity as all cards are known and players must make final decisions based on complete information.

In practice

Also called “fifth street” in Seven Card Stud. The river is the most critical betting round as the final hand values are known. Dealer errors on the river (exposing cards, dealing out of order) can have significant financial impact and require immediate floor intervention.
