Community Cards

Poker

Cards dealt face-up in the center of the table that all players can use to form their best hand. Community cards are used in Texas Hold’em (five community cards), Omaha (five community cards), and other shared-card poker variants. The community cards are dealt in stages: the flop (three cards), the turn (one card), and the river (one card).

In practice

Also called “board cards” or “shared cards.” In casino poker games, dealers must ensure community cards are dealt in the correct order and that no card is exposed prematurely. An exposed or flopped card may require a misdeal or burn card procedure.
