Stand
Blackjack
A player’s decision to take no more cards and play their hand as-is. The player signals a stand by waving their hand horizontally over their cards (in shoe games) or tucking their cards under their chips (in pitch games). Once a player stands, they cannot change their decision or receive additional cards.
In practice
Correct standing decisions are fundamental to basic strategy. Surveillance uses stand/hit patterns as part of the profile for identifying card counters who may deviate from basic strategy at specific counts.
