The regulatory body responsible for overseeing commercial gambling in Great Britain under the Gambling Act 2005. The UKGC’s regulatory framework is built around three licensing objectives: (1) preventing gambling from being a source of crime or disorder; (2) ensuring that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way; and (3) protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling. The UKGC issues operating licenses and personal licenses, enforces License Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP), and has significant enforcement powers including license revocation and substantial financial penalties.
