Count Room Theft
How it works
Employees with access to count rooms (where chips and cash are counted, verified, and prepared for bank deposits) steal from the counting process. Methods include: palming chips during the count, substituting counterfeit chips for genuine ones, altering count documentation to conceal shortages, and exploiting dual-control weaknesses when partners are inattentive. Because count rooms are among the most secure areas in a casino, theft from these areas typically requires insider access and knowledge of count procedures.
