Part II: Table Game Cheating · Dice & Craps Cheating Methods

Off-the-Table Shot

Controlled ShootingREPORTEDSkill: Amateur (as a component of larger scams)

How it works

The shooter deliberately throws the dice off the table so they must be retrieved and re-rolled. While this may appear accidental, it can be used as part of a larger strategy: the shooter may use off-the-table throws to stall the game, frustrate other players, or create opportunities for past posting while attention is diverted. In some cases, the shooter may use the off-the-table throw to “test” the table conditions or to reset after an unsuccessful controlled throw. Repeated off-the-table throws by the same shooter should raise suspicion.

On the record

While off-the-table throws are common in normal play, systematic use as part of a cheating strategy is a documented technique.
